Chamonix has a golf course, a tennis club and huge
open areas for running and other activities.
Play 18 holes at the spectacular and challenging
Chamonix Golf course, designed by Robert Trend Jones. The club is open from May
to November, and has a driving range and a club pro.
The course is a 15-minute
walk or a 3-minute drive from the Chalets des Liarets.
We
thoroughly recommend La Cabane restaurant which is next to the club house.
Are you keen on tennis? The 15-court Chamonix Tennis
Club is a very pleasant 15-minute walk or 5-minute cycle from the chalets,
through the woods and along the river Arve. The footpath is perfect for the
whole family.
Chamonix’s Leisure Centre has an indoor pool and a
large outdoor area in the summer, with magnificent views of the
Mont-Blanc. There’s a 50-metre Olympic
pool, a teaching pool, paddling pool, slides, two Jacuzzis and a big park with
a café. There are also wellness facilities available.
If you enjoy going for a run through the quiet woods,
the Bois area up the valley is only a 5-minute jog away. Pick either the Petit
or Grand Balcon, North or South, depending on ability.
There are countless routes available; all can be good
training for the Cross du Mont-Blanc or the world-famous Ultra Trail.
You’ll need a fishing licence to cast your rod over
the valley’s lakes and rivers. More info available at the Office du Tourisme
The Chamonix ice rink has an Olympic-size 60 by 30
metre indoor ice pad and a 26 by 56m outdoor area.
